We are getting to know the two congregations and Pastor Carlos better

Well as most of you already know we have been without a computer for most of this month. But praise God when a team from England come out and visit us this June they will be bringing out a brand new one! The excitement is almost too much to bear and we are so thankful for the provision of money to buy one.

At this point in time we are getting to know the two congregations and Pastor Carlos better. We cannot express sufficiently how proud of them we are. We feel so privileged to see the seeds that Elim sewed after Hurricane Mitch, growing into these wonderful people who have not just received from God, but are now giving out to their communities. With the support they receive from the UK they are impacting the lives of those around them. Not because they feel obliged to or because it’s some outsiders idea, but because they have a passion to see God touch lives and feel like they have the opportunity to be God´s arms and hands in Honduras.

It’s so wonderful to see and hear and each week spurs us on more and more.
This month has seen John become head cook for Project Joseph, as he taught the teams to make spag bol for the kids. It went down a treat and because of the cheapness of vegetables here, we cooked enough for the kids to have second helpings. Rachel has now learnt several songs that involve dancing like various animals to the delight of the team. During a pineapple juice:electricity-cut fiasco Rachel had 60 kids to occupy by herself (let’s say the 3 year performing arts degree has finally paid off!).

Rachel shared her testimony with both of the churches’ youth groups this month, the best thing being that it has opened the door to some of the young people who had been closed off to us since we got here. Our Spanish continues to improve every week and even though we sometimes are slightly scared of our teacher (she is very strict), she is doing us the world of good.

We have had our first experience of a Honduran funeral, which was extremely sad. The mother of one of our friends died the last week in May in her sleep. We praise God she was a Christian, but it doesn´t help the hurt and pain that her children and grandchildren feel.

We thank you all for your continued support at this time, it’s amazing to be a part of so many wonderful things and to see the churches growing and thriving. Please continue to remember us in your prayers and feel free to drop us an email anytime.

God Bless

John and Rachel
